Asbestos Testing

We offer asbestos testing services to clients across the UK, from Brighton to Southampton, the Midlands and London. Testing for Asbestos is vital. Asbestos can be present in any property built before 1999 when the material was banned from use in the UK.

It is very difficult to tell whether asbestos is present simply by looking at the material; the substance is ‘hidden’ within some materials such as Artex coating and cement, but additionally, many materials that look identical are actually harmless.  At Crucial Environmental, we carry out an initial asbestos survey at your property, and if we find any material that we suspect may contain asbestos, we send it off to a lab for testing. This testing checks whether asbestos is present, and establishes the current condition of the asbestos.

Who can test for asbestos?

Asbestos sampling and testing should only be carried out by experienced professionals who understand the risks of working with asbestos, and how to mitigate those risks. The testing that we conduct on asbestos samples is carried out at UKAS-accredited laboratories, as all asbestos testing should be.

What are the different types of asbestos test?

As well as offering testing on asbestos and potential asbestos-containing materials found in and around properties, we can also provide asbestos air testing. This is a different type of service that measures the levels of asbestos fibres in the air to establish whether the area is safe for use. If high levels of asbestos are found, the area is unsafe, and should not be used until a test confirms that the air is free from asbestos.

Our Asbestos Testing Services

Asbestos Laboratory Testing

We test for asbestos and asbestos-containing materials in a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) certified lab. The samples are analysed using a variety of techniques including stereo microscopy, polarised light microscopy and dispersion staining. We can additionally offer emergency testing services when results are required as soon as possible.

Asbestos Sampling Services

If you are concerned about the level of asbestos fibres in a property, or you need to have the air tested as part of renovation or demolition work, we can help. We can offer air testing in commercial and industrial premises, as well as in private properties. We use approved suppliers who are accredited to ISO 17025 by UKAS.

Asbestos sampling

If you find any material on your property that you believe could be asbestos, we offer a comprehensive sampling service. This involves carefully taking a sample of the material so that it can be sent away to a laboratory for testing.
