About
Crucial Environmental Limited is a UKAS-accredited asbestos consultancy and laboratory operating to ISO/IEC 17020 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards. We provide asbestos surveying, laboratory analysis, consultancy, air monitoring, and asbestos management services throughout the UK.
Due to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Laboratory Analyst to join our Worthing laboratory team.
The Role
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the analysis of asbestos bulk samples within our UKAS-accredited laboratory, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with HSG248, internal quality procedures, and UKAS accreditation requirements.

Main Responsibilities
- Analysis of asbestos bulk samples in accordance with HSG248 and internal laboratory procedures
- Accurate recording and reporting of analytical findings
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, organisation, and housekeeping standards
- Assisting with quality control procedures and internal quality checks
- Ensuring compliance with UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- Maintaining equipment checks, calibrations, and laboratory records
- Working safely in accordance with company procedures and health & safety requirements
- Assisting with sample receipt, booking-in, and administrative laboratory duties where required
- Supporting continual improvement within the laboratory quality system
Essential Requirements
- BOHS P401 Qualification (Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples)
- Previous asbestos laboratory experience preferred
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of laboratory quality procedures and health & safety requirements
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a UKAS-accredited laboratory
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 systems
- Previous experience with asbestos quality control procedures
- Full UK driving licence
